Local food cooked the right way. Perfect manner to introduce my friend to Rivers delicacies with the periwinkles in shells in the soup(that needs a lot of getting used to).
The decor is irregular and simple. I enjoyed reliving my childhood by playing board games which the restaurant provided.
We got there too early but we were allowed to sit a while before placing our orders and maybe that’s why it took some time to get us our food and don’t judge me, swallow can be my first meal of the day.
The portions were huge and we were filled.
The toilet wasn’t much of a looker.
Really nice place, good food and service. Cowtail was da blast with my banga rice. Came back for pounded yam and fisherman soup. Abeg open for Abuja na.
had my birthday dinner here, and these people really know how to prepare native dishes. 👏🏽
I had Onunu (ripe plantain+yam pounded together) and Fisherman’s soup with beef as the main protein and other obstacles present. It was such a delicious delicacy.
They also have board and card games present at each table to keep you and your friends/family entertained while your meal is being prepared.
If you ever happen to go there, I strongly recommend you order “Noah’s Ark”. It’s a meal that comes with every protein you can think of: beef, chicken, snails, crabs, prawns etc, all in one dish. The only problem is that this meal is quite seasonal, so if you’re lucky it’ll be available for you. I wasn’t so lucky lol. Also, try their palm wine while you’re at it. Thank me later! 😉
The entrance to this place is between 2 buildings, off Onne road.
The environment did not look well maintained and the indoor ACs were not functioning when we visited so we had to sit outside... Probably power issues.
The parking available here is for about 4 - 6 cars.
The food here was ok but they seemed overpriced for what was offered.
Some red flags: During the process of making payments, I was offered a POS but the waiter was quick to say it was not functional (which I seriously doubt, with events that unfolded). While trying to make the transfer, she offered to input the banking details herself on my banking app (which I obviously declined) and when she called out the account details, I saw it was an individual account. When I asked why I'm paying into an individual account and not the restaurant's business account, she told me that she gave me the individual account in error (which I know wasn't true). She eventually gave me the business account which I paid into.
For a place I looked forward to visiting, I doubt I'll be having a return visit.
My first time having fisherman soup and onunu/pounded yam and it was really good. It’s a good place to have a taste of native Nigerian foods. The aesthetics is not so much but it’s perfect for the concept of the restaurant.
It was nice that they had games because it was a long wait for our food to be served. The interior looked like it needed to be revamped but trust me, it was artistic they were very innovative and intentional it is impressive. I’ll also post pictures of some of the very creatively impressive pieces of furnitures on display. The food too was also nice
Beautiful place....great aesthetics. I really enjoyed the write ups on the walls, they were witty without being too obvious. The staff was really friendly, though their prices are not the cheapest around, one needs to be prepared tl pay well for their services. Great place!
